Virtual Tax Prep 2024
Welcome to our 2024 Tax Season
CTA is going virtual! We are offering free, remote tax-preparation services. Free Service is provided for those low-income taxpayers within our income limits, up to $35,000 income for individuals and $57,000 income for families with less than $11,000 Investment Income (Capital Gains, Interest, Dividends ...)
Pre-COVID, CTA worked out of seven storefronts, community donated office space. If we prepared your tax return last year at one of our locations, see below
To participate in virtual tax prep, we ask you to have the following:
a smartphone, tablet or computer with webcam and access to the internet.
a volunteer from your Storefront will contact you to set up a virtual appointment; we'll send you a link to connect! You have the options for a phone call or video call interview.
We'll work on your taxes, the manager will review and you can approve it virtually.
For all clients, please note that turnaround times may take up to two weeks.

Two ways to get your tax documents to CTA:

Mail - CTA Cathedral Station, PO Box 1040, New York, NY 10025 (Postmarked before 3/31/2024) (Make copies before you mail your documents.)
Tax Documents
A copy of your 2022 or 2021 tax returns (or the last tax return you filed).
All W-2 and/or 1099 forms, self-employment records and any other income information including Social Security and SSI for you and your dependents.
Forms or notices received from the Internal Revenue Service or the New York State Tax Department.
Social Security cards (or ITINs) and photo ID’s for yourself and anybody you support and a State Issued ID and/or Drivers’ license if you have one.
Health insurance information - dependents: Form 1095A (if purchased through the Exchange). For tax year 2023, Form 1095A and copies of insurance cards for those included in that coverage.
STUDENTS: Form 1098-T as well as a bursar’s receipt showing tuition you paid from your personal funds and what was paid by loans. Also bring receipts for books and a computer if you purchased one.
Amount of Medical Expenses if significant, including cost of insurance, Real Estate Taxes paid, Casualty Losses, Charitable Contributions, if any.
Bank account number and routing number for direct deposit of any refund you may receive.

(If you cannot read your documents' text , we will not be able to read your documents.)
